The Beijing Wax Museum, completed in 1990, is the first of its kind and largest one in China. Housed in Ditan Park (the Altar of Earth), the wax works on display fall into seven categories, covering famous people in such fields of politics, education, science, arts and sports.
The museum presents historical figures including Emperor Qin Shi Huang of the Qin Dynasty, two historical combat heroes Yue Fei and Qi Jiguang, Confucius, and two famous poets of Tang Dynasty Li Bai and Du Fu.
And also there are 126 life-like wax figures from the modern time, including Yang Liwei, the first Chinese astronaut in space, Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan and NBA giant Yao Ming, are on display in the museum.
